This is just a quick update post. I had my 24 week appointment on Monday (at 23weeks, 3days). Overall, we are still just cruising along. I am measuring right on at 24cm (cm should correspond to weeks along). Butterball's heartbeat was a strong 157. The midwife went over the single artery umbilicus (SAU) that showed up in our ultrasound. Essentially, it is not something to worry about. In some cases it can be indicative of genetic disorders and she said that if we wanted to see a specialist we could. However, given that our NT scan showed us as very low risk, I opted to just ride it out and not worry about more doctor's appointments. The midwife said that she has seen a decent number of cases of SAU and has never seen a problem. The only thing is we will monitor Butterball's growth more closely particularly towards the end of the pregnancy to make sure the umbilical cord is providing enough nutrients, etc. In general, my blood pressure and weight are good and Butterball seems just fine. She cleared me for air travel in three weeks to go to Colorado which I am way excited about.
I also went to the Babies R Us breast feeding seminar on Monday. It was given by a nurse and certified lactation consultant. Overall, it was really informative and a good way to begin my research into the logistics of breast-feeding. On the other hand, the seminar lasted for 2 hours which I hadn't expected. The chairs were quite uncomfortable and they were really close together which just isn't all that nice for a bunch of pregnant women. The first third of the seminar was all about why breast feeding is beneficial too. Now, I think it is great to convey that information, but I figured if we were all showing up to a breast feeding seminar it was kind of like preaching to the choir. But, once we got into the actual action of breast feeding, I did learn a lot. I also think the woman convinced me not to go with the boppy pillow which I registered for, but to go with the 'my brest friend' pillow. Any moms out there use that one? At any rate, it was nice to have someone tell me a lot of information at one time versus trying to read about it. I feel so overwhelmed with all the reading I need to do right now anyway, between pregnancy books, child birthing books, breast feeding books, and oh yea, I am trying to write that darn dissertation (ugh!)
Quick update on the house hunting...we are still waiting on our offer, but we were told the lien holding bank was sending in someone to check out the house which made our realtor think we could hear something by the end of the week. Will they accept our offer? Ah, the suspense...

Let me know how you like the other pillow for breastfeeding when the time comes, I was only aware of the Boppy and planned to register for one.
We had our NT Scan yesterday and the nurse and doctor are fairly certain we're having a boy, too!
We end up using a boppy and still do for the most part. I had a twin bf pillow too that I could never get it to work for us. I have heard great things about the my breast . Honestly, I would get both. A boppy is great for tummy time, propping up behind them when they are learning to sit up, it's still a great baby product.
I wasn't big on the boppy. It felt like something else to coordinate. I think that you just have to try out your options and see what works for you and your baby boy. Haven't heard of the other option, you'll have to let me know! Although, the boppy was nice for propping up baby when he/she was first beginning to sit.
Hey S & S - The registry looks great. One highly reccomended item I added to our list was lap pads - which as flannel with some sort of water proof material in the center. I guess they're great for protecting laps, and play yards and cribs from blow outs and drool. I've also heard from many moms that the Boppy is not so great for BF, but I like it for tummy time positioning to promote strong neck muscles and head control. Way to go on cloth diapering. One bit of advice I heard over and over when Jon and I researched options was to look for a cleaning service in your area (which there are several in the Concord area). I guess post baby you can be too tired to keep up with the laundry. We're hoping G diapers work out for Cinderella - we'll see. Let's hope she comes soon, I am bored and idle and ready for her arrival. - Kate
We used the boppy. i've heard that my breast friend is better than the boppy for breastfeeding since the baby won't roll in as much as the boppy, but honestly, we didn't really have any problem with that. But like everyone else has said, the boppy has so many other uses. if i had to do it all over again, i'd still go for the boppy. we used it for about 4 or 5 months for breastfeeding purposes, and now just use mama's arms. i'll take a look at your registry and see if i can add anything. best of luck on the house!! you look fabulous.
