No, not my first shower since Finn's birth, but my first shower while he and I are alone together during the day. It seems silly, but I haven't been brave enough until today to leave him alone napping, while I take a shower. He was up on and off all morning and quite fussy, until around nine after a meal he finally went down for a nap hard. I put him in his swing and waited 15 minutes. When he didn't wake up and cry, I decided to go for it. I was very nervous and washed as quickly as possible, hopped out of the shower and got dressed while watching him in his swing in the living room. Now, over an hour later, I realize all my rushing and nervousness was not necessary as he is still sleeping soundly. And I am reveling in my cleanliness. Oh, the things you take for granted when childless. Simple tasks like brushing your teeth, eating, and showering become major accomplishments when you have a little one.
I also had my 6-week post pardum checkup yesterday. Luckily, all went well. I have healed well and I was cleared for exercise. I don't remember the technical name of the part of the abdominal muscles that separates, but mine has closed all but one part at the top. The midwife let me feel the space and that was kind of freaky, but she said it was really tiny and I can start doing abdominal exercises again. I am very keen to begin in hopes of getting rid of this jelly belly (no need to have that in common with Santa despite the holidays), but who knows when I will actually start. I am anxious to go running again too, but given we are in the thick of winter with a storm watch beginning at noon today, I don't know when I will begin running either. I am scared to discover just how out of shape I have become. At least it is the time of year to start coming up with New Year's Resolutions.

Yay!!!!!! A shower. Good for you. Soon enough you this will all be second nature. Are you going to get one of those baby joggers and run with Finn? I think that would be great exercise. Mike and I are visiting an infertility specialist on the 16th! Wish us luck! Glad to hear all is going well.
I used to put Emily in the travel swing in the bathroom so I could take a bath. I could never leave the girls alone together though. Em would have had too much fun playing mommy!
