Skiing Saturday

I am happy to report that Finn and I did pretty well while Sean was gone. We had one day that was a bit rough. Finn wasn't keen to sleep and we were both overtired, but the following day went really well and made up for the trials the day before.

We are really enjoying a relaxing weekend. This morning we woke up and went out to Northwood. Finn's Nana and Papa watched him for an hour while Sean and I went skiing with the dogs. It has been a beautiful winter in New England this year and this was the first time we could really take advantage of it. It was the first time for us to leave Finn too, definitely a big step. It was really great to get out and get some exercise, but wow, I am really out of shape!

The dogs had a blast and led the way:

Lily was made for winter:

I am still working on mastering cross-country skiing:

And here is just a super cute photo:

Well, no you can't. At some weight point, it's much more comfortable to wear babies facing in. Less strain on your back over long periods of time. This is where you use the back carry. I still can't master the back carry with a wrap like Mandy but with the Ergo, it's easy as pie.

great pics!! glad you had a nice time. we love winter here too.

just to follow up about the ergo...while i think its possible to wear outward facing in the ergo, i don't know how well it would work in practice. i think you would need a bigger baby for it to fit right. you could try a mei tai which you could roll up to adjust to finn's size if you wanted. but, honestly, we never did a lot of outward facing...noah tended to need more intimate time as opposed to wanting to see. but when he was interested in seeing, we switched to hip carries or back carries like becky mentioned. back carries are a cinch with an ergo or beco, but we still prefer wrap back carries. (even now!! the only way we can get any vacuuming done around here)

you CAN do outward facing in the moby or the ring sling. let me know if you want some links...they both require frog leggedness. depending on head control you could also try hip carries too. you'll also find that hip carries more comfortable than other outward facing positions. you may also be getting to the point where a woven wrap might be nice too. sorry to babble, but you know i love babywearing!!

btw, here's an article i found about child lead weaning that i was telling you about.
