Catch Up

I feel like I have been running behind in everything. I can't seem to catch up. I have been meaning to blog about so many things, but I just haven't found the time. Today is a rainy day and both Sean and Finn are napping, so I thought I would try to get back on track.

First, I can't believe I haven't told the blogosphere yet that Finn finally has 2 teeth! He cut the first one at 11 months 1 week, and the second at 11 month 2 weeks. The teething process is wretched! Poor Finn was so cranky. For a long time, we were clueless as to what was going on. He had a cold and we attributed it to that. Then, all of a sudden I saw the white line of a tooth just under his gums. Once both teeth were out, he was instantly back to his old happy self. I am glad for the break while we anticipate the next ones to come in. Here is the only pic I have to capture it (two white nubs on the bottom):

Finn has been loving Fall. He is so excited by leaf piles:

We had a big weekend last weekend. On Friday, I went to a book club through my mom's group. It was the first night I have left Finn. I was crazy nervous about it. We got him to bed and I left. He usually wakes up around 2 hours after falling asleep and sometimes he lets Sean soothe him, while other times, he cries for mom. I fear I was actually too nervous to fully enjoy myself at the book club, but when I got home, all was well. It was really a good feeling. On Saturday, Finn and I went around on the Deerfield Arts Tour with another mom and her children from my group. It was so neat to see the creativity and fine arts in our town. Then on Sunday, I ventured out on my own again for a brunch with the mom's from my group. We went to this very interesting venue called Pickety Place. This time, it marked the longest I was away from Finn (~5 hours). I pumped before I left and, again, I was nervous, but really there was no need. I got home and Finn was happy as could be about a day with his Dad. Sean said there were a couple rough moments, but it wasn't a big deal. Finn took a little bit of mama milk from a sippy cup and was sustained with snacks. It is a strange thing in that I am so glad and relieved that my absence is not a big deal, it is also a major reminder that my little babe is growing up.

This week has been a bit of a whirlwind. I have been battling a cold and desperately trying to make progress on my dissertation. We are gearing up for halloween and then Finn's birthday, both right around the corner. We are carving some pumpkins this afternoon and I will take plenty of pics and get back into blogging more regularly.
