Vacation: Out on the Town

The day before we left, we went to the town markets to do some shopping:
We then stopped at a little taco cabana for a fabulous lunch:

Finn had lots of giggles on the way home with Bubbles:

Vacation: B-Ball

Sean and Finn liked to play basketball before dinner. Finn has some dunking skills:

Vacation: Buried in the Sand

Finn thought it was HILARIOUS to be buried in the sand:

Vacation: Lovin' the Beach!

Because of the time difference, Finn typically woke for the day around 4:45 am. By 5am, he was asking to go to the beach! Unfortunately, we had to wait until at least sunrise, but immediately thereafter, we were in the water.

Finn really enjoyed working on his kicking:

He would go out to the point where he could put his hands on the sand and float, then he would kick back into shore:

He would also go right up to his neck and he didn't want anyone to help him:

Grandmama came down to watch the action:
The promise of snacks and a nap were the only things that got Finn back to the house. Beach play is hard work:

Vacation: Hittin the Beach

From Phoenix, we had a long ride down to Mexico. Finn did great, but he was so happy to be out of the car when we arrived. We immediately headed down to the beach where he plunged in the water with all clothes on. He ran and splashed until the sun was almost gone. I swear there was never a kid as happy as Finn on the beach! The water was amazing and warm at around 80 degrees.

After much frolicking in the waves, Finn took to rolling in the sand just to truly soak it all in.

Vacation: Splashing in the Pool

I am finally getting around to all of our vacation photos and I will devote the next few blog posts to our adventures in Phoenix and Mexico. We arrived in Phoenix on a Friday night and spent the following Saturday recovering from the long trip and enjoying the warm desert air and the cool pool. Finn loved sitting on the steps and splashing. Then, he got in and did the "motorboat" with Baboo.

Vacation Calls

We are heading out today for a glorious vacation in Arizona and Mexico! We are flying into Phoenix and then driving down to Baja to visit Grandmama Josette. We will be living it up on the beach for a week, and then we will drive back to Phoenix for a bit of a family reunion and to celebrate Grandma Boots' 90th birthday! Wow! We just need to survive a 5 1/2 hour flight with a toddler and it will be some good times :)

If you want to live vicariously through us, you can always visit the webcam at the beach. We will also post a gazillion pictures when we get back!

Family Pumpkin Carving Party

Yesterday, we had a wonderful time at a big family pumpkin carving party. It was a gorgeous day and it was wonderful to see so many cousins and second cousins and aunts and uncles and grandmas and grandpas! Finn was happy to help clean the pumpkin and then he had a grand time running around with all the kiddos.

Deerfield Fair 2010

Note: many of these photos are poor lighting, but I just had to include them all. Also, I know you will be admiring Finn's fabulous sweater. It was knit by Sean's grandmother for him when he was a little boy. Nana found several of them in an attic and I think it is so wonderful that Finn can wear them now!

It is definitely Fall when it is Deerfield Fair time. It is a big deal in this little town. We started off the morning meeting up with Nana, Papa, Aunt Carrie and Uncle Jon and cousins, Libby, Liam and Grace. It was quite a fun crew. Finn was immediately enthralled with the livestock and with no fear, he was anxious to get up close and personal. We began in the oxen barn where he loved petting this calf:

All the cousins checking out the John Deere inventory:

Then, the swine barn. Finn just giggled at every pig and ran from pen to pen to meet each and every one.

What is a fair, without some fabulously bad for you food? I had to get some fried pickles and Finn enjoyed them too:

The giant pumpkin contest:

More John Deere - what is it about boys and tractors? Finn was in seventh heaven:

Mmmm, more fair food - fried dough (aka indian fry bread for you CO folks)

And, lastly, the petting zoo where Finn had a blast feeding all the goats and sheep:
