Picnics and Races

We have had a really lovely weekend in NH. It is spring break for the schools in the area so everyone had some time off. On Friday we met up in Portsmouth for a picnic. Finn got to check out his first beach. Really it was just a little section in the park, but a great place to hang out. He seemed very interested in everything. Here is uncle Jon showing him the intricacies of skipping stones on the water:

All the kiddos had a good time:

Finn had fun playing in the sand with his feet:We had a beautiful lunch. The day was sunny, but there was a chilly breeze coming off the water:

Finn was tuckered out by the afternoon:

We headed back to Northwood and Finn had a good hike through the woods in the backpack. He is enjoying it more and loves to watch the dogs frolic:
Lily is thrilled it is swimming season again. Throw the stick, throw the stick:

Today we all met up at the seacoast again for the "Whale of a Race Trail 5K" to benefit the Seacoast Science Center.
Libby and Liam joined in the kids' fun run:

The race was BEAUTIFUL and I am so glad I did it. At one point the trail went onto the beach and though running in the sand was tough, the view was great. I will definitely look forward to doing it again next year. And hopefully next year I will be more prepared. With Sean gone, I have not trained at all and to top it off Finn and I are a bit under the weather and he had gone on a full sleeping strike last night. I am exhausted. I couldn't find the official race results online yet, but my watch says I did it in 31:06. No progress since the last race which is disappointing. I am rearing to get back in the game and see some improvement.

It got up to 87 degrees today. It feels like we jumped to July. It was really nice to soak up some rays although my face is a little pink and I need to remember we are getting into sunscreen season. It is strange too trying to figure out what to dress Finn in. I am so used to worrying whether he is too cold, now I have to worry he is too warm and also worry about sun exposure.

Well, I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
